The McLauchlin lecture series was established in 1999 to honour the 50th anniversary of the ordination of the Rev. Bob McLauchlin, Minister Emeritus, Northminster United Church, Peterborough.

The purpose of the lectureship is to bring to Northminster and the community persons of distinction from a variety of issues of current interest.

Past guests have included:

• The Hon. Bob Rae, former premier of Ontario
• Dr. Chris Hadfield, Canadian astronaut
• Dr. Avis Glaze, Director of Education, Kawartha Pine Ridge School Board
• Dr. Paula Todd, Broadcaster, Journalist, Lawyer and Authour

A lecture is presented every second year and is promoted to the community at large.
